TOPIC: How does one set up a Facebook Fan Page for a company or charity

How does one set up a Facebook Fan Page for a company or charity 1 year, 12 months ago #1039

I have a personal account, but I can't see any settings that would allow me to create a fan page. I noticed Online Design Bureau has a Fan Page, how can I create one myself?

Bloggermaven,

First, make sure you are logged into Facebook.

Then, click on this link: www.facebook.com/pages/

On the right hand side, you will see a button called "create page".

Now simply go through the set up process, and you're done.
Always here when you need me. I am the forum administrator and a web designer for Online Design Bureau.

Another tip for Facebook fan page operators. It's really important that you get a quick 25 fans. That way you can get a custom URL for your page. Instead of being:
www.facebook.com/group/xyz/12342343/pdjf.php

You can be...
www.Facebook.com/YourNameHere/

That helps because you can now put the URL on your other marketing material.

I hope that helps!

That's interesting about getting the custom URL.

By the way, on my Facebook account I've been seeing some complaints about the changes made by Facebook in their layout.

Do you think that's a bad idea for the site?

What's funny is this is the second major change to their UI. They actually moved the interface back to what it was originally (well, close at least). People cried and moaned when it switched over originally, and they're doing the same now. I'm sure they'll do the same when FB switches interfaces again too.

People hate change.
No. Matter. What.

That's probably something to keep in mind when considering the design of our sites too.

It must be frustrating to spend time and resources on what you assume are improvements to a site, only to receive negative feedback from your customers.
