Are you a good proofreader? I've found that no matter how many times I read something, there's always something else that needs fixing.

I think I'm fairly good at it, but I'm probably most effective if I get away from the document for a while, forget about it and then read it again.

In the same sitting I may let the same mistakes get by me.

yes..taggart..that is true with me too...I will not tell myself a good proofreader...but then if I am not looking at the written document for a while...I catch the mistakes faster and rectify them...

It's so easy to read over remarks. It's just amazing what gets by.

I've worked with someone who did proofreading as a temporary job. She said it was very tough reading the fine print on product labels.

I'll bet that's actually grueling. I wonder if folks realize how much our brain actually reads over; that's a lot of what speed reading is about.
