Lorenz replied to the topic Re: How to freeze more than 5 column in google spreadsheet? in the forum. You can't as of yet. According to Google's support page, Rows and columns: Freezing columns and rows:
Freezing Columns
There are also two methods to freeze columns in a spreadsheet:
The Column Bar is a vertical bar that separates active columns from frozen ones. Using its handle (found at top, by the column headers), you can drag the Column Bar left or right to the last column you'd like to freeze, 5 columns maximum.
Click the Tools tab and then click the "Freeze columns" drop-down menu. From the menu, select the number of columns you want to freeze, 5 columns maximum.

Lorenz replied to the topic Re: How many blog posts are necessary in the beginning in the forums.Chris,
I would definitely recommend posting a blog post daily, for several reasons:
1. Posting one post a day makes it easier for readers to consume the posts. Chances are, if you post 40 posts in one day, only the latest entry gets read. Furthermore, if you enable subscription via email, than the reader will simply miss the previous posts and be mailed post 41 and onwards.
2. Psychological: if you commit yourself to writing 40 posts, that will seem quite a hill to climb. On the other hand, if you see something published every day, you get the instant gratification each day when you hit publish.
3. Motivational: assuming your client already has a website with some traffic, chances are that people will start interacting with the blog posts as they are posted. I also recommend that your client shares his blog posts on social networks (where appropriate) to increase exposure. He can also send out cards or other promotional material to his clients announcing there is now a blog.
Here's another great way of increasing user engagement on the blog. Let's say your client (the blogger) helps one his or her clients overcome a common problem. He could then tell his client that he will add a blog post about this, so that the client can easily consult the solution at a later date. The client can then also engage with the blogger by leaving comments to further clarify the solution. Since the solution is of interest to a wider public, he can then refer future clients who struggle with this particular problem to the blog post as well. And eventually, the blog post will start ranking in search engines, bringing in even greater traffic.
There are some things you should do once you hit 20 posts or more:
1. Create a section where you republish your blog posts in magazine format. On this page, the blog posts aren't published chronologically, but randomly. Therefore, the page appears to have new content each time the user clicks on the page. You can see an example here: onlinedesignbureau.com/magazine
2. At the bottom of each blog post, add links to other relevant posts, to increase the chances the reader might click through and read more blog posts. Create categories such as
- Related articles
- More articles in this category
- More articles from this author
- Most read articles
- Latest articles
You can see an example of this at the bottom of this blog post.
3. Make sure that to the left of the right to the blog, you clearly feature the 5 most read blog posts, as these have the best chance of being relevant to the user.
4. Also feature the topics (categories, etc) you discuss, as the reader might want to drill down on one particular topic. Topics work better than tags, because there are fewer of them, and therefore easier for the reader to take in at a glance.
I hope this answer clarifies things, let me know if you have any more questions!

Lorenz created a new topic Write like you talk - Cure for writer's block in the forums.Seth Godin wrote a great entry about writer's block. He argues that nobody gets talker's block. Then why do so many get writer's block?
Seth says:
The reason we don't get talker's block is that we're in the habit of talking without a lot of concern for whether or not our inane blather will come back to haunt us. Talk is cheap. Talk is ephemeral. Talk can be easily denied.
Writer's block is a common affliction, because you are putting something on paper, practically carving it in stone for the world to see and forever refer to. As a writer, you feel you MUST make sense. Unlike talk, you can't take anything back, you can't deny anything and what you put out there can be scrutinized by everyone on the planet.
But as a blogger, you are offered a way out. You can set up an anonymous blog, and post your thoughts unfiltered. Create a separate blog to help you learn how to write, how to formulate your thoughts, give you a tool to help you establish that daily writing habit. Your blog is your playground, where you write like you talk and never really get writer's block. And if you occasionally produce a gem, you can republish it anywhere you want...
Seth advises:
Writer's block isn't hard to cure.
Just write poorly. Continue to write poorly, in public, until you can write better.
I believe that everyone should write in public. Get a blog. Or use Squidoo or Tumblr or a microblogging site. Use an alias if you like. Turn off comments, certainly--you don't need more criticism, you need more writing.
Do it every day. Every single day. Not a diary, not fiction, but analysis. Clear, crisp, honest writing about what you see in the world. Or want to see. Or teach (in writing). Tell us how to do something.
If you know you have to write something every single day, even a paragraph, you will improve your writing.

Lorenz replied to the topic Re: Buying a computer in the forums. The most important specs you want to look out for are
1. RAM: the more the better. Don't settle for 2GB RAM, buy 6 or even 8GB.
2. HARD DRIVE: make sure it is a 7200-rpm hard drive as opposed to 5400-rpm. Don't allow your hard drive to slow you down! And of course, choose a hard drive large enough to store all your files. I recommend a minimum of 350GB, but it can't hurt to go up.
3. Battery life: you will really love that long battery life once you have it.
4. Weight: think 3 pounds and 4.5 pounds really isn't that different? Wait until you have to lug it around for a day.
All the rest you can safely ignore.
Some of the options you will be presented with that are superfluous to your buying decision are:
- CPU speed. Don't pay a whole lot more for 2.3GHZ CPU vs 2.4GHZ CPU. You really won't notice the difference.
- RAM speed. The noticeable difference between 1333MHz RAM and 1066MHz RAM is neglegable.
- DVD/Blu-Ray write speeds: not worth the extra money.
- Graphics RAM: unless you are playing games, your on board graphics card will do just fine to watch DVD's, Blu-Ray's and YouTube videos.
